Bay Front Industrial District [19 Images]
At the end of a spur that crosses a swing bridge northeast of the South Hilo Bay Harbor Dist. is the Bay Front Industrial Dist. Here the massive Hamakua Sugar Mill is located. Also in this area of the layout is Hawai'ian Fruit Exchange complex.

Keaukaha and South Hilo Town [33 Images]
This section of the BIRR begins to get more rural. The outskirts of South Hilo Town end at the tracks along Highway 11. It's here that the BIRR Puna branch heads south. There is also a small yard just past the Tesoro Hawai'i Pertroleum Products spur where the South Bay Switcher crews stores and sorts cars.
